Jason Banks

Guest Artist, University of Wyoming

Jason is an assistant lecturer at the University of Wyoming specializing in Lighting, Sound, and Digital Media Design. Many projects in recent years have craved the use of digital media and projections for live presentations as well as camera based performance. Jason’s experience in the field of digital media and projections allowed for an expansion of creative work into the needed areas and gave him an additional platform to explore his art. Professional credits include designing for Smashmouth, BoysIIMen, and Candlebox as lighting director as well as a number of designer credits for theatre, opera, dance, and concert design.

    ProTip!: Projection Mapping, Masking, and Matting Fundamentals

    This workshop will provide attendees with approaches and tips for taking your projection designs to the next level. For technical instructors, directors, and projection design novices looking to advance their knowledge beyond the screen. We will explore mapping techniques using Adobe Photoshop and After Effects, with practical approaches that can use almost any graphic design software. We will also give methods for masking and shaping projections to fit non-letterbox surfaces.
