Consent in the Theater
Beginning, , / Acting, Dance, Musical Theatre, Tech, , / Regular
Consent is an essential element in theater. With effective communication, clear boundaries, and mutual respect, artists can find the freedom and vulnerability they need to create their best work. But for some, consent can sometimes pose tricky questions: What if you state your boundaries and people think you're a diva? What if you're in an improv situation where you have to say yes? What happens if you agree to do an intimate scene but later feel uncomfortable with what is being asked of you? Following in the wake of Me Too, this workshop will explore these questions and more to equip artists with the tools they need to feel safe and and respected in the theater.
