Film: Lighting natural, practical or fabricated

Beginning, Intermediate / Tech
Presented by Michael Hartzog

So you shot a film. Acting was great, camera was great, audio was amazing, but the lighting... Well... We should talk.

Sometimes lighting seems like a necessary "evil" you have to contend with. Many small film crews would rather not have to deal with it; "Just open the iris and let's go!" The funny thing is, it doesn't have to take long, it doesn't have to be complicated, and it doesn't have to be expensive. BUT, like every other aspect of your film, IT IS IMPORTANT. For many filmmakers, lighting becomes a major signature.

In this workshop we'll explore the wonderful world of cinematic lighting. We'll go through big budgets, small budgets, lighting terms, techniques, crew titles... We'll go through tips on lighting quickly for small budgets and little time, as well as bigger budgets with more time. My hope is to give you the tools you need to confidently light, stylize and create a look for your film.
