Communicating Truthfully through Musical Theatre Song

Advanced / Musical Theatre
Presented by Ryan Driscoll

This workshop will explore the process of understanding how to synthesize singing and acting for musical theatre into one cohesive act. In musical theatre, a character sings because spoken dialogue is no longer enough to achieve what it is that they want. This workshop will ask students to explore the dramatic circumstances of a song through sung coachings and understand why they have to sing which will ultimately make their performances more exciting, organic and truthful. Attention will be given to both vocal technique and dramatic circumstances. This workshop will show the philosophy and type of work done in the musical theatre program at the University of Northern Colorado.

Students who would like to perform in this workshop need to bring their music, an accompanist track, and a blue tooth speaker (if they have one)
