Music educator, Emily Doherty, brings you into understanding the multifaceted ways that song can be used to further enhance your improvisation and character development work. With her own background as performer and musician, Emily welcomes all types of performers (and technicians) who are curious – be they shy or bold singers – to discover how singing can give a different voice to thoughts and emotions while also lifting improv skills to the next level! This engaging, supportive workshop (come prepared to sing . . . all the better if you do not see yourself as a singer) will explore musical styles and genres, joyfully creating songs “on the spot.” The workshop, incorporating exercises in group dynamics, support, and movement, will offer you tools to turn every song, improvised or written, into a full-blown musical number!
