Level Up Your Ensemble Storytelling – “Revolting Children” from Matilda – Musical Theater Dance Improv & Ensemble Work Session

Beginning, Intermediate / Acting, Dance, Musical Theatre
Presented by Kayleigh Schadwinkel-Hickman

Being an ensemble member can be one of the hardest jobs in a cast: one sings, dances, acts, moves sets & more! However, we can't take for granted the crucial role ensemble members play in moving along the story plot. In this workshop, dancers of all skill levels will learn various tricks being taught on Broadway on how to be a successful and contributing background ensemble member. No more awkward standing in a straight line or not knowing what to do, instead, we will dive into one's acting and dance skills in a mini improv session to learn key tips to being contributing ensemble member and actively apply what they learn by using movement to further the plot of “Revolting Children” from Matilda. Individuals will be placed in a real-world audition setting by learning how to quickly work in teams with their collective peers to incorporate levels, layers & energy in their ensemble movements to create unique pictures on stage and the importance of being an engaged ensemble storyteller.
