MASKS: THE POWER OF MOVEMENT, THE POWER OF MOMENTBeginning, Intermediate, Advanced / Acting
Presented by Rachel Taylor
Limited to the first 35 actors to arrive. With their mysterious and freeing power at the foundation of Western theatrical tradition, actors in mask may have lost their central presence in contemporary theatrical work – with some exceptions, think The Lion King – but the mask’s ability to release a performer into physical storytelling and character remains current and empowering. This active workshop (come prepared to move) incorporates modes of neutral mask’s physicality expressing meaning very simply, clearly, and naturally. The workshop also links the beneficial discoveries you will make in mask to your choices, out of mask, when cast in a role and required to make specific and intentional physical and emotional acting choices. Join master educator and artist, Rachel Taylor, in this unique training opportunity.
