“Opening Up” & Being An Active & Fearless Ensemble Member! – “Opening Up” from Waitress

Beginning / Dance, Musical Theatre
Presented by Kayleigh Schadwinkel-Hickman

Being an active ensemble member can be one of the hardest jobs in a cast: one has to sing, dance, act, move sets, be an understudy and more! However, in all the busyness of this, we cannot take for granted the crucial role ensemble members play in helping leads move along the story plot. In this fun, upbeat workshop, dancers of all skill levels and musical theater backgrounds will learn various tricks and tricks being taught in the Broadway industry on how to be a successful and contributing background ensemble member to help move along the plot of the musical story! No more awkward standing in a straight line anymore or not knowing what to do, instead, we will be encouraging participants to dive into their acting and dance skills in a mini improv session to learn 3 fundamental tricks to being a successful and contributing ensemble member. Dancers will then actively apply what they learn to convey a message and use movement to further the plot of “Opening Up” from Waitress.
